Course Overview
This class will introduce the fundamental economic effects and theories that explain the diffusion of Electronic Business, especially new institutional economics, and map these to core concepts of management science. The overall learning goal of the course is an in-depth understanding of the interplay of economics, communication and information research, management science, and applied computer science; the underlying social and technical processes, and their implications for business and management.

The course is closely aligned with the textbook "Information, Organization and Management" by Rolf Wigand, Arnold Picot, and Ralf Reichwald (John Wiley & Sons, 1997 ISBN: 0471964549).

Registration
Registration via SB@HOME is mandatory. The registration deadline is July 31, 2007 both for Bachelor and Diploma degree students.
Registration is a prerequisitve for participation. Late registrations are NOT possible!

Logistics
The class will be delivered as a block class with three stages:

Stage 1: May 1, 2007 - September 16, 2007: Self-study part - Read the class textbook (chapters 1 - 9).
Stage 2: September 17 - September 19, 2007: Classroom Instruction, 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. CIP II, Sanderring - Participation is mandatory!
Stage 3: September 28, 2007: 12.:00 noon - 1.00 p.m. Exam (60 Minutes); classroom to be announced.

You must have read the textbook prior to the beginning of the classroom instruction!

The exam will take place on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 12:00 noon - 1.00 p.m. (60 minutes).

Credits
The class will qualify for credits as "Unternehmensmodelle" and thus as a lecture in General Management (Vorlesung Allgemeine BWL), i.e., the grade will be honored by the Office of the Registrar (Pruefungskanzlei) as equivalent to the lecture "Unternehmensmodelle" for Bachelor and Diploma degree students. Please check with the Office of the Registrar for details.
