Title: What Makes for A Good Ontology?
Description: In this Lightning Talk, I argue that the most important characteristic of a good ontology is the quality of the categories defined, i.e. to which degree the ontology provides categories that are valid (1) over time, (2) across individuals, and (3) across contexts.

Talk 1: Building Vocabularies: Which Terms Are Most Valuable - The Most Popular, the Frequent, or the Rare?
Description: When we design ontologies for the Semantic Web, we can mostly not include all potential conceptual elements due to time and resource constraints. But which ones should we include: The frequent ones or those on the long tail?

Talk 2: We must find an efficient notion of identity
Description: The current Web and Semantic Web stack requires that conceptual elements defined by a URI represent a clearly defined set of objects. In this talk, I argue that the choice of the notion of sameness must not be done arbitrarily but such that the reuseability of data in new contexts is maximed; and that this is an important and difficult design decision.

Talk 3: In and Out of Popular Structures: A Hidden Bottleneck for Ontology Adoption
Description: In order to be adopted by broad audiences, Web ontologies must not make more subtle conceptual distinctions than popular database schemes support; otherwise, populating the knowledge base is unfeasible for potential publishers of data. On the other hand, our structures must be subtle enough to allow rule-based import of Web data into common target structure.
